Emergency Management Consulting
Emergency Management is the managerial function charged with creating the framework within which communities (businesses, organizations, and municipalities) reduce vulnerability to hazards and cope with disasters. (Federal Emergency Management Agency, pg. 4, March 2007)
Emergency Management Services can develop an all hazards plan to prepare your firm, municipality, or organization to work through an emergency or disaster. Our services are predicated on a realistic approach to problems likely to be encountered during such an event. This philosophy is developed based upon the four goals of Emergency Services. They are preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.
These goals are defined as:
PREPARDNESS: Plan for potential emergency or disaster.
RESPONSE: Povide for the appropriate resources to be available to work through the event.
RECOVERY: Develop a process to return to normal operations as quickly as possible.
MITIGATION: Take action steps to reduce the impact of an event on your organization, municipality, or firm.
We will prepare an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) that addresses these four functions, and develop training programs to enhance the implementation of the plans for your staff. It is a turnkey service.
Starting with a needs analysis, our experts will determine the depth and breadth of emergency planning necessary for your organization, municipality, or firm. This will include identifying potential hazards, then performing a risk and impact analysis .We will consult with you and strategically develop a plan of action.
Our approach involves reviewing your organization’s, municipality, or firm’s functions; where and how it operates; the interaction with the surrounding community, governmental agencies; and available resources. Emergency Management Services enhances the protection of life, and property, through the effective use of planning, training and your resources. This critical analysis will set the foundation for the development of a comprehensive Emergency Management System .
The design of this system will begin with the Basic Plan Section which includes areas such as; purpose of the plan, scope, implementation, situation, assumptions, concept of operations, chain of command, incident management, logistics, training, and many other components.
The next section develops your Emergency Support Functions (ESF). This will include a thorough analysis of your needs and resources in an emergency or disaster. For example: transportation, communication, engineering, fire response, public relations/ information, and the list continues.
The results of the needs analysis will drive us through the development of Incident Specific Plans. Incident Specific Planning details how to rapidly respond to incidents, assuring those who need to know, are aware in a timely manner. This section will also include evacuation procedures, bomb threats, earthquakes, utility failures, in climate weather / tornadoes, psychological emergencies, violent or criminal behavior and other incidents that could potentially occur.
We will develop an Emergency Operations Plan as an integral component of an overall Emergency Management System. This system will be designed specifically for your firm, municipality, or organization, and synchronize resources into an effective and efficient business tool.
Emergency Management is critical to a successful business strategy. Being prepared will reduce anxiety; reassure employees and clients, while mitigating the impact (life, financial, physical plant, public relations, etc.) on your organization, municipality or firm. For some, an Emergency Operations Plan, and corresponding training program, could provide eligibility for federal grants.
